East Woodhay Charities

East Woodhay Charities is made up of two charities: ‘Relief in Need and ‘Relief in Sickness’.  The charities are administered by five trustees, the chairman being the Rector of East Woodhay.  The charities’ income comes from interest on investments, and also rental income from the land owned by the charities at Hatt Common.

Originally there were five local charities, the oldest of which was the Elizabeth Goddard Charity founded in 1732, but in 1969 a new scheme was approved resulting in the two we have today.

How we can help

The charities exist to provide assistance to residents in the Parish either in need or in sickness.  However, in these times ‘need’ becomes harder to quantify, and those in need are often reluctant to ask for help, so if you know of anyone who would benefit from either charity, please encourage them to contact us.  All requests for assistance will, of course, be treated sensitively and confidentially.

Aid does not only have to be for individuals, requests for help from local voluntary bodies are always looked upon favourably as well.
