From Paul Davies, executive Headteacher, Schools of Woolton Hill:
Following the imminent closure of the Woolton Hill pre-school, the school has been looking at potentially setting up its own nursery provision. We believe that parents should not have to drive out of the village to access child care. At a recent meeting the FGB, it was decided to submit a business plan to the Local Authority to apply to age-down the Infant school, with the purpose of establishing a School Based Nursery.
We feel this amenity will be particularly important for disadvantaged families who cannot access nursery learning outside the village. The nursery would run across business hours for 50 weeks a year and would be based in an empty classroom, meaning that minimal adjustments will need to be made to the buildings.
As part of the process the school is required to undertake a 4 week consultation with the local community. We are planning to start this consultation next Monday and complete it before the school summer holidays. The consultation can be found here.
